Carolyn Lomas
Assistant Instructor - Kids Muaythai - Women's Only Kickboxing
Carolyn is a 2nd Degree in Muaythai, and Brown Belt in Freestyle Self Defense. She is a fantastic instructor for the Kids Muaythai and the Women's Only Kickboxing, bringing a tonne of enthusiasm and experience.
Started training in Muaythai in 1999, at the Universal Sports & Entertainment Gym in City Walk, Shepparton. Jason Hawker was the head instructor of this Bob Jones Corporation affiliated gym, and taught various BJC styles including Muaythai, Zendokai Karate, Kidz Karate, Arnis Escrima Kali, as well as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Jason moved the gym to the Shepparton Sports Stadium in 2000, with Mat instructing classes in Muaythai each week. Mat had earned his Black Singlet in BJC Muaythai in 2002, and Black Belt in Zendokai in 2002. It was around this time Muaythai was impossible to insure, so U.S.E adopted the style of Fighting Fit Freestyle to be able to continue our training, Mat earning his Black Belt in 2002.
Muaythai....
Mat started competing in 2003. He had his 1st fight in Springvale, Kickboxing rules. Since then, Mat went on to have 26 fights, winning the IFMA World Championships Silver Medal, Bangla Stadium Title, WKBF East Coast Australian Title & WMC Victorian Title. Mat also regularly trained in Thailand, first in 2003 at Tor-Saengtiennoi, run by the world-famous Muaythai legend Saengtien Noi in Pathum Thani, Bangkok. He has also trained at Sityodtong Muaythai in Pattaya and Town In Town Gym 2 in Bangkok. Mat was very fortunate to have great guidance by the likes of Bob Jones, Jason Hawker, Mal Crane, Danny Maksacheff, Ben Hamilton, Tao Jaiphet & Rhino Pichitchai, to name a few. Training fighters was also his passion, & now has a full-time stable of Muaythai fighters, including champions of note; Sharon Quirk (2 time Victorian Kickboxing Champion) and Tommy Murray (WKA Australian Champion, WKA East Coast Australian Champion, and 2 time WMC Victorian Champion.) This passion also fuelled his decision to start promoting fight shows around regional Victoria to help the profile of the sport grow, and give the local guys & girls the chance to compete in front of their home town.
